Learn what sets '60s fashion apart from others
Fashion and styles have always been changing from time to time; or, it
is better to say, decade to decade. This can easily be said for the
fashion during the sixties. That was the time when things were taking a
new turn. Fashion was changing because the leadership was, for the very
first time, in the hands of young people. They stated to do some
experimentation with the fashion trends and produced some of the most
amazing designs of clothes and hairstyles. The best thing about those
styles is that they are still 'on'.
 Actually, there were so many
things that made different clothing styles popular in those particular
days. For instance, what was in vogue those days was clothing with
floral prints. Although you can still find women wearing floral prints,
the prints in those old days were quite big and elaborative. Flowers
were either big or too many! In addition to flowers, polka dots were
also loved by the women of those days. These polka dots were not only
for tops but for skirts as well. The fashion was at its very best in
sixties. It was so because experimentation was on and new things were
coming into being due to innovative concepts of different designers.
But, what set '60s fashion apart from others is the fact that everything
in that period was 'relaxed'; be it people, their clothing or hair
style. Although fifties fashion was also quite impressive, it was more
on the formal side. Men were usually clad in Italian style suits with
narrow trousers. Blazers were different as well. The only thing that was
missing in fifties was something stylish, comfortable and casual. That
was the basic reason why sixties saw a great change in style.
Another thing that separates '60s fashion from others is the hippy
culture. With the introduction of this hippy culture women were
engrossed in the idea of wearing big floral, and tie and die prints.
This was common for both men and women. Another great addition in that
time was the introduction of bell bottom jeans, which were loved by all
young people. Imaging the scene of people wearing bell bottom jeans in
some flashy colors with big floral or tie and dye shirts – it sounds
interesting, isn’t it?
Actually, it was not only the designs of clothes but colors that made
this fashion really popular. The flowers on shirts were huge and the
colors were so funky that any one would know these people belonged to
the hippy culture. This clothing is still in vogue for the very reason
of looking unique.
So, you can see that there are so many things that are behind the
popularity of '60s fashion. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to suggest
that many of today's designs are basically inspired by those old big
prints and fashion trends. That’s what shows the importance of '60s
fashion. |
