Learn what came in and what went out in the '60s
fashion The difference in fashion trends can be seen with
ease. Just skim through the pages of history and you will find people
getting dressed up in a completely different way. It is due to those
changes in trends that many people still want to know more about what
was in demand in old eras. For instance, children of boomers are very
much interested in learning more about the fashion trends in the '60s.
In case you are also one of those who are interested in learning
about what came in and what went out in the '60s fashion, you are at a
right place. Here, you will find few of the most basic differences
between the fashion in '60s and other eras. So, here you go!

• The first important change was in formal dressing styles. There was a
complete change in the coats and vests. Just check out an old picture of
President John Kennedy and you will notice the difference in tails and
vests. So, trends for formal dressing were quite different as compared
to other eras.
• Before sixties, the use of formal hat was quite in
fashion, but that got changed in the '60s when, all of sudden, these
formal caps disappeared. It is thought that President Kennedy had a
disdain for these particular formal hats. Though he wore these hats on
few occasions, it was really on rare occasions! This actually changed
the entire trend. But, it is also important to point out that women were
also interested in wearing hats, even in the home. But, they, too, got
rid of their hats, but it was in late '60s. • For people
working in large organizations, it was important to wear white shirt,
with no sport coat. A full coat was in fashion, or you can call it a
pesky dress code, and with the coat there was no fashion of growing
facial hair.
What it implies is that things in sixties were not similar to what
were seen during the fifties. Although there was an influence of those
older trends, the difference was quite big to be noticeable. However, it
is also crucial to mention that all these aforementioned dressing styles
were for elders. It means these were the things for parents and
professionals in the sixties, but the dress code was completely
different for boomers.
For boomers things were more on the funkier side. Since the fashion
in sixties was basically for the young guys, it was easy to see these
boomers trying few different things. For instance, saddle shoes were in
demand for girls between the ages of 9 and 13. These shoes were
basically available in white color with a specific streak of black. But,
extremely fascinating was the fact that these shoes were no longer their
in the late '60s. It shows how quickly the trends were used to change
those days.
The fact of the matter is that change in fashion in '60s was quite
huge and the entire generation felt the change. But, it is again worth
mentioning that the trends for boomer parents were not similar to the
trends for boomers. You will have to dig more to learn about those as
quite a few things were different as compared to past eras. |
